Mikmaki Dance Troupe
The Mikmaki Dance Troupe are a group of talented Mi’kmaq traditional dancers and singers from Nova Scotia, which is traditionally called Mikmaki (Land of the Mikmaq). They all have been singing and dancing for many years and each dancer and singer has traveled all over North America performing and competing and many of the best powwows.
You will learn about each style of dance its origins and its stories and hear the songs that make these beautiful dances unique and special. Each dancer has their own style and beautiful regalia and are all champions. Your MC is Trevor Gould, an experienced powwow singer and dancer himself, and also a powwow director and MC. He has been performing for more than 20 years and is proud to bring his teachings and knowledge to the festival
